As a Metro, NES, or State employee or pensioner*, you and your dependents are eligible to participate in the Nashville Healthcare Incentive Program. Whether you need primary care or imaging, we provide a wide range of healthcare services at little to no cost.1

*Federal law prohibits participation in the incentive program if Medicare is your primary insurance.

Who is eligible to participate?

This incentive program is open to all Metro, NES, and State employees, pensioners, and their dependents who are covered under their respective medical plans. All you need is a current healthcare plan specific to your employment group.4 Federal law prohibits participation in the incentive program if Medicare is your primary insurance.

How much does it cost?

There is zero cost to participate in the Nashville Healthcare Incentive Program. You’ll also enjoy $0 copays for healthcare at Nashville General Hospital (NGH) and Nashville Healthcare Center (NHC).5

You will continue to send members Explanation of Benefits (EOBs). The EOBs will state “amount owed provider” — this is not a bill. This is the amount we do not collect unless it is referencing a third-party vendor as previously noted.

Group Plan Specifics

  1. Coverage details depend on your specific healthcare plan. State, Metro, and NES employees may have varying coverage options.  
    • Metro Employees: No copays or deductibles when using NGH/NHC services if you have the Cigna PPO or HRA plan. For HRA plan users, full coverage starts after spending the Metro-funded HRA.
    • NES Employees: No copays or coinsurance for NGH/NHC services with the UMR health plan.
    • State Employees: No copays or deductibles for PPO plan members using NGH/NHC. CDHP/HSA members have no costs after meeting the deductible for in-network preventive care and maintenance medications.
       
  2. For NES employees, no copays or coinsurance apply when using NGH/NHC services. For Metro and State employees, different insurance plans may affect deductibles and copays.
     
  3. Savings vary based on your employee group:
    • Metro Employees: You can save as much as $1,000 to $2,000 if all services are provided at NGH/NHC. Coverage applies after spending any available funds in your Metro-funded HRA.
    • NES Employees: Save up to $2,000 by receiving all services at NGH/NHC with no out-of-pocket costs for copays or coinsurance.
    • State Employees: Save as much as $2,000 (for individuals) or $4,000 (for families) when all services are provided at NGH/NHC. This applies to State PPO plan members, and CDHP/HSA members after meeting deductibles.
  4. Group-specific eligibility:

    • Metro Employees: The program is available to all employees and pensioners covered under a Metro healthcare plan. Show your Cigna PPO or HRA health insurance card to access services.
    • NES Employees: Open to all NES employees, retirees, and their dependents who are covered under a NES medical plan. Present your UMR insurance card for no-cost services.
    • State Employees: State employees and pensioners, including those from higher education, local government, and education, are eligible with a State medical plan. Use your Premier/Standard/Limited PPO or Local CDHP/HSA insurance card to access care
       
  5. Group-specific cost details:

    • Metro Employees: $0 copay applies when using NGH/NHC services with Cigna PPO. For Cigna HRA members, costs are fully covered once the HRA fund is depleted.
    • NES Employees: $0 deductibles and coinsurance when using NGH/NHC services under the UMR plan.
    • State Employees: No copays or deductibles for State PPO plan members using NGH/NHC services. CDHP/HSA members enjoy no-cost care after meeting their deductibles.
       
  6. Cigna & UMR will continue to send members Explanation of Benefits (EOBs). The EOBs will state “amount owed provider” — this is not a bill. This is the amount we do not collect unless it is referencing a third-party vendor as previously noted. If you mistakenly receive a bill from Nashville General Hospital, please contact our Billing Department.

In 2019, Nashville General Hospital opened the first offsite location in Midtown and transitioned all primary and specialty clinics under the Nashville Healthcare Center brand.
